| John Burns, Emeritus Professor and Honorary Professor, The University of Hong Kong Professor John P. Burns is the Emeritus Professor and Honorary Professor of the University of Hong Kong. He was the former Chair Professor of Politics and Public Administration (1996-2017) and former Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences (2011-2017). He obtained undergraduate degrees from St. Olaf College and Oxford University, and a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University. He specializes in the politics and public administration of China including Hong Kong. He is the author or editor of eight books and his academic articles have appeared in scholarly journals such as China Quarterly (UK), Journal of Contemporary China (USA), Pacific Affairs (Canada), and Public Administration and Development (CAPAM). His op-eds have appeared in The Diplomat, Global Asia, Ming Pao and Hong Kong Free Press. Benjamin Kostrzewa is a Foreign Legal Consultant at Hogan Lovells, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, he was former Assistant General Counsel at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) in the Obama Administration. She brings extensive US and international tax experience from working with clients in both external adviser and in-house counsel capacities in New York and Hong Kong. She helps clients navigate the constantly evolving tax landscape by offering practical advice and developing optimal solutions with clients and their stakeholders. Her practice includes providing US tax advisory and compliance services to clients. Vivien has led and participated in various tax consulting projects including helping clients design and implement integrated global tax strategies that achieve business objectives and address tax opportunities and risks. She has worked with clients on cross-border structuring, holding company structures, repatriation, debt restructure, tax due diligence, purchase price allocation, post-acquisition integrations, refinancing, value extraction, and disposal projects. Her deep experience in the private equity fund space includes partnering with clients and their stakeholders to manage various tax aspects of the front-to-back life cycle from product development, fundraising, investment structuring, compliance, audit support, stewardship to restructuring, disposal, and liquidation. In addition, she has presented in seminars on US tax related topics. Vivien holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and a Master of Science in Accounting-Tax Consulting from the University of Virginia. She is a licensed US CPA and a member of the AICPA. |

- Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of payment, on a first come first served basis. - Booking transfer is allowed for corporate members with advanced notice, walk-ins are normally not accepted. - The Chamber reserves the right to decline any booking or cancel the event. In such case, a full refund of the participation fee will be issued. - No refund will be made for last minute cancellations or no-shows. If the booking is cancelled at least 3 days before the event, and in such cases the refund will be subjected to a 10% administration fee, or HK$100 deduction, whichever is higher. - Members paying with their BOC HKGCC Visa Card will enjoy a 30% discount on their reservation. The discount is only applicable to the card holder, and does not extend to their guests. The discount cannot be used in conjunction with Chamber Coupons. - A $50 handling fee per person will be charged for all offline bookings (e.g. fax, e-mail, post) for all Chamber events.
