The "Create Smart District in Hong Kong" Project is co-organized by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and Vocational Training Council (VTC) to enhance public awareness of smart city development in Hong Kong through conferences, technology workshops, competition and roadshows. The objective of this Project is to identify and resolve district-specific issues by engaging young people in the development of innovative and technology-based solutions for developing Hong Kong into a smart city as mapped out in the Government’s "Hong Kong Smart City Blueprint 2017" and the ensuing "Hong Kong Smart City Blue Print 2.0" released in December 2020.
To participate in the competition of this project, VTC students would form teams and submit their proposals on how to use innovative ideas to transform and enhance public services by 24 December 2021.
The Project is funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund (ITF) provided by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Proposals must be original, and should achieve at least one of the below objectives:
1. Raise public awareness on the issue at hand
2. Optimize the use of resources
3. Improve the quality of living
The judging panel, comprises representatives from the Government, academia and industry experts, will select a total of 10 winning projects according to the aforementioned criteria.
