Mexico: The Hottest Place for Businesses to Be

It was an honour to welcome Ambassador of Mexico to China Jesus Seade Kuri, accompanied by Consul General Pablo Macedo Riba to the Chamber on 26 October. Chamber CEO Patrick Yeung welcomed the visitors, along with Americas Committee Chairman Evaristo Trevina Berlanga, and Vice Chairmen Mark Michelson and Susana Munoz Enriquez.

The Ambassador said that he was excited to be in Hong Kong again, and hopes to expand business and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Mexico. He said fostering greater awareness and understanding builds friendships, trust and confidence. With Hong Kong being the premier gateway to the Mainland, similarly, Mexico is the hottest gateway for entry into the world’s largest market, the United States.

Backed by the inclusion of a broader, more precise trade agreement in the form of USMCA, which replaced the NAFTA agreement in 2020, investors now have added security as the agreement includes a chapter on rules-based dispute resolution.
