The China Committee has been promoting Hong Kong as the international bridge connecting Mainland China with the world. It is one of the most active committees in the Chamber, and is responsible for advising and assisting the Chamber in formulating policy, enhancing economic relations and strengthening trade. The committee keeps members up to date on the latest economic developments and new policies in Hong Kong and the Mainland that will impact their business, through organizing timely roundtable luncheons, seminars and study missions.

Associate Professor Li Yingbo, from the School of Public Policy & Management at Tsinghua University, and Professor Linda Li, Director of the Research Centre for Sustainable Hong Kong, visited the Chamber accompanies by their respective research teams on 22 January. PC Yu, General Committee member and Convenor of the Chamber’s GBA Working Group, and Petrina Tam, Chairman of the China Committee, gave a warm welcome to the teams.

During the meeting, the participants discussed how the rapid development of transportation infrastructure has enhanced people flow across the Greater Bay Area (GBA), as well as some of the challenges that remain in increasing cooperation in the region. Chamber representatives also shared the results of our latest GBA survey with the visitors. Both parties expressed their hope that the academic and business communities can work together to help achieve the integration of the GBA, and particularly to strengthen exchanges between young people in Mainland China and Hong Kong.
