The China Committee has been promoting Hong Kong as the international bridge connecting Mainland China with the world. It is one of the most active committees in the Chamber, and is responsible for advising and assisting the Chamber in formulating policy, enhancing economic relations and strengthening trade. The committee keeps members up to date on the latest economic developments and new policies in Hong Kong and the Mainland that will impact their business, through organizing timely roundtable luncheons, seminars and study missions.

Shanghai Minhang Investment Promotion Conference

Chamber Vice Chairman Douglas Woo represented HKGCC at the Shanghai Minhang Investment Promotion Conference hosted by Shanghai Minhang District People’s Government in Hong Kong on 31 August. During the seminar, Mr Woo, on behalf of the Chamber, signed an MoU with the Shanghai Minhang District Investment Promotion Center to strengthen cooperation and ties.

The policy advantages offered by Minhang District include supporting funds of up to RMB 10 million for the biopharmaceutical industry, industrialization schemes for important products and major projects for Shanghai’s strategic emerging industries. For advanced manufacturing project investment, it could receive subsidies based on investment proportions, with the amount up to RMB 20 million. For the modern service industry investment, it could receive one-time awards of up to RMB 6 million and housing rental subsidies of up to RMB 10 million for regional headquarters and headquarters-type institutions of multinational companies in the city.

Over the years, we have helped businesses overcome adversity and thrive locally, in Mainland China and internationally.
