北京就香港國安法立法，美國總統特朗普在香港時間上周六凌晨作出了回應。由於反應沒有市場原先憂慮的那麼強烈，美股及境外港股黑期，在得悉消息後反彈，估計周初港股亦應該高開，但畢竟取消本港最惠國待遇及重新審視港人旅美簽證等安排並不是什麼好東西，港股在壞消息獲證實後的反彈，彈力強極有譜。

全國人大通過決定，授權全國人大常委會制訂港區國安法，切實防範、制止和懲治任何分裂國家、顛覆國家政權、組織實施恐怖活動等嚴重危害國家安全的行為和活動以及外國和境外勢力干預香港特別行政區事務的活動，這是天經地義，民心所向的。

早於「港區國安法」消息傳出當晚（21日），即官方確認消息前夕，香港Google關鍵字「移民」等搜尋次數已隨即較平日暴增逾4倍。

明報委託中大傳播與民意調查中心的民調，63.7%受訪者認為設立港區國安法會破壞香港國際金融中心地位。

美國總統特朗普在香港時間周六（30日）的記者會上，預告將取消香港特殊地位；這一表述一旦落實，意味美國按「美國－香港政策法」賦予香港的特殊待遇，將會被撤銷，或至少一部份被撤銷。
