What's On

2024 is being hailed as ‘super election’ year as half the world heads to the polls. While this is a pivotal year for many establishments, the election results will bring significant changes to the economic landscape and outlook of European countries, as well as possible impact on EU-China trade relations.

What are the issues challenging the EU-China economic relations and prospects? Addressing these economic challenges requires political will and strategic coordination. Would that result in any change to the political landscape and economic policy directions of Europe?

Join us on 24 September for a roundtable briefing at the Chamber where the speakers will discuss how these changes may impact Hong Kong. Jean-Pierre Cabestan, Emeritus Professor in Political Science at the Department of Government and International Studies, Hong Kong Baptist University, will share his thoughts on how the recent EU elections may reshape the political landscape. He will also give his take on China’s foreign policy and EU-China relations.

He will be joined by Iñaki Amate, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce, who will share his thoughts on the post-election economic outlook for Europe, particularly in Germany, the United Kingdom and France.
