Income tax is a major tax category in Mainland China, impacting both individuals and businesses. It is widely recognized as a tax category of great concern to the public. Companies and cross-border individuals need to understand how to navigate cross-border work arrangements under the resumption of normal travel.

Since the implementation of the new “Individual Income Tax” law, China has carried out and completed the final settlement of individual income tax for two fiscal years. It is important to understand the key concerns and whether you can benefit from the corresponding preferential individual income tax policies if you meet the talent requirements. The individual income tax subsidy policy for cross-border talents in the Greater Bay Area can significantly reduce the actual tax burden for those working in the area. Are you eligible? How do you apply for the subsidy policy?

What are the common tax-related issues in cross-border transactions when determining “beneficial owner”? Can non-residents receiving dividends benefit from tax treaty provisions?
