Join us to learn more about the Chamber's "Asian Cities Internationality Index" (ACII) findings at a briefing on 23 July, during which Chamber Chairman Agnes Chan and CEO Patrick Yeung will present the key findings and discuss how businesses can leverage the analysis.
The Chamber recently unveiled the findings of ACII, which assesses the internationality of 11 Asian cities across seven areas: 1. Business and Economy; 2. Quality of Life; 3. Infrastructure and Connectivity; 4. Innovation and Ideas; 5. Human Capital Diversity; 6. Cultural Interaction; and 7. Government and Legal Systems for Business.
The Index highlighted that Hong Kong and Singapore are very close regarding their role in the international economy, but overall, the 11 cities’ strengths – including diverse cultures and a mix of advanced and emerging economies – showcased each’s unique comparative advantages.
Tokyo and Seoul formed the next tier. Tokyo excelled in quality of life, cultural interaction and international presence, while Seoul demonstrated prowess in advanced transportation and information connectivity, enhancing their global appeal.
The study aims to underscore the comparative advantages of the 11 cities -- including Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Taipei and Tokyo.
About the ACII HKGCC commissioned Ipsos to conduct a study aimed at developing an independent, transparent and credible framework to evaluate the internationality of 11 Asian cities.
A total of 1,107 senior executives working in the selected cities – equally split between locals and non-locals – were surveyed to gather their perspectives.
