In an increasingly geopolitical, protectionist and divided world, the resulting volatile forces can have far-reaching effects, which leave a lasting impact on individuals, communities and societies around the world. As we find ourselves in an era of uncertainty and unpredictability, understanding their implications and how we can deal with such instability is crucial for both current and future generations.

Kenny Lam, CEO of Two Sigma Asia-Pacific, will speak at our “CEO 123 Tell Me More Series” on 11 September. Lam is a distinguished figure in Hong Kong's business, academic and NGO communities. He is highly sought-after, as one of very few individuals that has built American businesses in China and Chinese businesses in America. During the talk, he will explore the key trends and implications drawn from his remarkable background that spans decades of diverse insights.

Lam currently serves as CEO of Two Sigma Asia-Pacific, one of the largest hedge funds in the world, and known to be a pioneer in applying data science and technology to investment. Prior to Two Sigma, he was a Global Partner of McKinsey & Company and was the fastest rising global partner in Asia when elected in 2007.

Beyond his professional endeavours, Lam also holds the position of Chairman of both The Wharton School and The Nature Conservancy Asia boards, as well as Co-founder of Project Melo, a famed youth empowerment platform.

Lam is an Oxford law graduate and a Wharton finance graduate. He was the first Chinese ever to be awarded the Joseph Wharton Scholarship.

Lam’s recently published book《選擇》was China’s fourth best-selling e-book in March 2023, in which he shares his discoveries from his muti-faceted journey with the China’s new generation.

About "CEO 123 Tell Me More Series": The Chamber proudly introduced this monthly series last December, which offers a rare opportunity to hear from inspiring individuals in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Kenny Lam, CEO, Two Sigma Asia-Pacific 

As CEO of Two Sigma Asia-Pacific, Kenny oversees Two Sigma in Asia with offices in Shanghai, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.  Two Sigma is one of the largest hedge funds in the world and is known to be a pioneer in applying data science and technology to investment.

Prior to joining Two Sigma, Kenny was Group President of Noah Holdings Limited (NYSE: Noah), China’s largest independent wealth manager, where he advised on over USD 85 billion in allocation of assets for the nation’s high net worth individuals and leading institutions.

Before Noah, Kenny was Global Senior Partner of McKinsey & Company and a co-leader of its Asia Financial Institutional Practice serving leading financial institutions in 13 markets in Asia.

Kenny was one of the fastest rising partners of McKinsey, elected as a global partner 6 years from his start as an analyst.  At McKinsey, he advised governments and regulators on the transformation of financial hubs, including the creation of the Private Wealth Management Association and the positioning of Hong Kong as a wealth and asset management center. 

Kenny is Chairman of the Executive Board of the Wharton School in Asia and is a Co-Chair of the Asia Pacific Leadership Council of the Nature Conservancy. He is also a board member of Smartone Telecommunications in Hong Kong, a board member of the Bank of East Asia (China) and Chairman of its Risk Committee, and an advisor to Our Hong Kong Foundation. 

Kenny graduated with a finance degree, magna cum laude, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a law degree from Oxford University.

- Booking transfer is allowed for corporate members with advanced notice, walk-ins are normally not accepted.
- The Chamber reserves the right to decline any booking or cancel the event. In such case, a full refund of the participation fee will be issued.
- No refund will be made for last minute cancellations or no-shows. If the booking is cancelled at least 3 days before the event, and in such cases the refund will be subjected to a 10% administration fee, or HK$100 deduction, whichever is higher.
