Millions watched when the Ever Given, a 400m long container vessel, blocked the Suez Canal for nearly a week in March. The forced interruption tied up billions of dollars in goods that would have otherwise crossed the waterway each day, and could not have come at a worse time as suppliers were already struggling to satisfy consumer demand against the backdrop of pandemic-disrupted supply chains. Although the vessel was finally freed on March 29, the ripple effect of this incident has highlighted the urgency and importance for businesses to better understand and manage their global supply chains.

Given the vulnerability of global supply chains to unforeseen and potentially disruptive developments, what can companies do to become more agile and resilient in responding to Black Swan events?

At this webinar, Jonathan Beard, Partner, Infrastructure Advisory, EY and Roberto Giannetta, Chairman of the Hong Kong Liner Shipping Association, will speak on the impact of Ever Given incident on global supply chains and its implications for international trade. They will also shed light on best practices that companies could adopt to mitigate the fallout from unexpected events that impact supply chains, and discuss the use of technology and data in business operations to enhance predictability, lower costs and manage risks.
