Mrs Laura Cha is one of Hong Kong's most well-known female business leaders. She has served as a vice chairman at the China Securities Regulatory Commission – making her the first Hongkonger and first non-Mainlander to take on a vice-ministerial position in the Central Government -- and she is currently the first female chief of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX).
She is also a non-official member of Hong Kong's Executive Council, and is not shy about making her views known on how the Government can enhance Hong Kong's economic growth and development. Her previous roles at the Securities and Futures Commission and the Financial Services Development Council all worked towards the common objective of ensuring that Hong Kong's financial markets grew robustly.
With the increasing integration of Hong Kong and Mainland markets, how can we dovetail most effectively with the Mainland? What can and should be done to enhance the competitiveness of the exchange, and fend off competition from our overseas counterparts in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, New York and London?
Mrs Laura Cha, Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, will address these and related issues during her talk at the Chamber as part of our "Town Hall Forum Series" on 4 October.
