The Hong Kong Competition Commission has taken its second case to the Competition Tribunal, seeking penalties for alleged anti-competitive conduct. It has signaled that more cases will follow soon. So it's never been more important for Hong Kong businesses to understand competition law, and take steps to minimise the risks. And those risks are significant. The actions of a single employee can cost a company millions of dollars in penalties and damages claims, as well as disqualification of directors and managers.

This workshop will give simple practical guidance on how to stay out of trouble under competition law. It will also give practical tips on how you can use competition law to protect your business, in commercial negotiations and otherwise.

Speaker(s) Bill Brown, Senior Consultant, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce
Bill has worked for over 30 years in the field of competition law and economic regulation. His previous roles included being a partner in a major commercial law firm and an in-house counsel to companies, and acting for regulatory agencies, including as a Chief Executive of one of them. He put in place competition law compliance programmes for companies, and (as a regulator) led prosecutions against anti-competitive conduct. The ability to see the issues from both the businesses' and the regulator's perspective makes him well-placed to give practical guidance in this workshop.
