"EU's Global Strategy Report 2019: Three Years on, Looking Forward" roundtable luncheon (originally scheduled date: 8 October) has been re-scheduled due to unforeseen circumstances. The new event date is Tuesday, 15 October 2019 at 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The European Commission's Vice President Federica Mogherini presented a report in June entitled: "The EU Global Strategy in Practice -- Three Years on, Looking Forward." The scorecard for the EU's performance focused on five key areas: the security of the Union, state and social resilience to our east and south, an integrated approach to conflicts and crises, cooperative regional orders and global governance for the 21st century. It also provided possible strategies for the EU to adopt in the coming years.
But as issues become more complex, and discussions involving the EU's 28 member states increasingly taxing, charting a path forward for the bloc is no simple matter. Not least, what challenges as well as opportunities will Brexit bring for the European landscape?
At this roundtable luncheon, Carmen Cano De Lasala, Head of European Union Office to Hong Kong and Macao, will highlight what the EU has achieved over the past three years, and its preparations for its future without Britain. Dr Alicia Garcia-Herrero, Chief Economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis, will also join the talk to outline the challenges ahead for the continent and how it might address these.
