In his Budget last month, Financial Secretary Paul MP Chan highlighted biotechnology as a key sector in the Government's push to develop innovation and technology as major new growth drivers. An extra HK$50 billion will be allocated to boost IT development, and around HK$10 billion will be injected into the Innovation and Technology Fund to support the establishment of research centres for healthcare technology, artificial intelligence and robotics.

Taiwan is one of the leading biotechnology markets in Asia and has been successful in attracting investment from foreign companies. To learn more about this vibrant market, the Chamber has invited Dr Hsieh Dar-Jen, Founder and CEO of ACRO Biomedical Co Ltd, to speak at a roundtable on 24 April. He will share the latest developments in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine as well as his insights into how Hong Kong can make the most of the opportunities that are arising in the biotechnology sector.

Speaker(s) Hsieh Dar-Jen
Dr Hsieh is the Founder and CEO of ACRO Biomedical Co Ltd and Adjunct Professor at National Kaohsiung Marine University. He has worked in the field of biomedical sciences for more than 25 years since completing his PHD in Cell and Molecular Biology in the United States. Besides his scientific background, Dr Hsieh is also experienced in product development, project coordination and fundraising for biotech companies.
