The rapid development of Shenzhen in recent years has transformed Longgang, the largest of the city's nine districts, from an industrial town into a high-tech manufacturing cluster. This shift in focus has been a success, and Longgang's GDP increased by 9.8% in 2017, the second highest in Shenzhen.

Longgang is also playing a leading role in Shenzhen's "March East Strategy" through its ongoing regeneration efforts. In order to become the "East Centre" of Shenzhen, Longgang has introduced more than 200 projects to expand and improve its innovation and technology sector, and to modernize its established industries. It has in fact become known as one of the more advanced Smart Cities in China through the use of technologies like cloud computing, big data and AI.

Meanwhile, the district has rapidly developed its train network, featuring 13 railway lines that connect with the airport, harbour and the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities within 30 minutes. Longgang also has the biggest marshalling yard in southern China, located at the convergence of major railway lines.

The demand for professional services is expected to rise with the growth in the number of development projects. To find out more about the potential business opportunities under the "March East Strategy," the China Committee has organized a visit to Longgang, focusing on the district's major commercial and innovation areas.
