Visiting The Hong Kong International Airport

Members had a fantastic at the visit to the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) on Thursday as part of the Chamber’s Real Estate and Infrastructure Committee meeting. Hosted by Amen Tong, General Manager, Contracts, Third Runway Department, Airport Authority Hong Kong and the HKIA team, members spent a fruitful afternoon learning about the world-class airport’s latest outlook and development plans, including the visionary Skytopia blueprint – which is an amalgamation of a one-stop art hub, Airport Bay Marina, Jet Fresh Market, Sportainment complex and many other features; poised to be HK’s new landmark for commercial activities, popular culture, art trading, entertainment and leisure.

We also had the exclusive opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the dynamic airport development projects from the HKIA Tower balcony including the recently opened Third Runway; tour the state-of-the-art Integrated Airport Centre (IAC), which is the heart of HKIA's operations, and stroll across the Sky Bridge whilst taking in breathtaking views from the Sky Deck.

Thank you to HKIA for the warm hospitality, and John Siu, Chairman of the Real Estate and Infrastructure Committee, for leading the delegation.  We're excited to see how the HKIA’s innovative plans unfold and further strengthen Hong Kong’s status as a leading aviation and logistics hub!

Briefing Session on Northern Metropolis by the Development Bureau

We had a morning of fruitful exchanges with Vic Yau, JP., Director, Northern Metropolis Co-ordination Office, Development Bureau and his team, on the progress of developments with the Northern Metropolis (NM) mega project, covering the four major zones – High-end Professional Services and Logistics Hub; Innovation and Technology Zone; Boundary Commerce and Industry Zone; and Blue and Green Recreation, Tourism and Conservation Circle.

Led by Real Estate and Infrastructure Committee Chair John Siu, and Vice-chairs Joseph Law and Bruce Chong, members also delved into issues relating to the concept, design and implementation of the NM, including the pilot large scale land disposal initiative, business opportunities and financing channels.

The Chamber is excited to continue engaging actively with the Government on the Northern Metropolis, contributing the views of the business community and advocating for synergistic collaborations.
