The Real Estate and Infrastructure Committee hosted a seminar on climate, sustainability, and ESG in the built environment alongside its regular meeting on 3 September. The event discussed the opportunities and risks facing Hong Kong’s real estate sector as it advances towards carbon neutrality by 2025.

Joseph Law, Committee Vice-Chairman opened with remarks on the Committee’s strategic priorities. The ensuing panel discussion, moderated by Bruce Chong, Committee Vice-Chairman, provided key insights offered by industry experts into trends shaping Hong Kong’s green transition and building sustainability standards.  The panellists – Tsun Chen, Secretary General at Hong Kong Green Finance Association; Harry Lai, Executive Director, Hong Kong Green Building Council; Merlin Lao, Head of Policy & Research, Business Environment Council; Michael Long, Director and Head of Sustainability, Hongkong Land; and Justin Wu, Head of Climate Change Asia Pacific, HSBC - also stressed the importance of cross sector collaboration and expressed their optimism for progress and innovation in sustainable development and infrastructure.

We extend our thanks to the Committee leadership for the successful meeting and seminar.
