Building the Future: Visit to the Centre for Future Construction
The Real Estate and Infrastructure Committee explored the future of Hong Kong’s built environment during an exclusive visit to the Centre for Future Construction (CFC) on 25 November.
Hong Kong's built environment and the future of construction has been benefitting from the real estate and infrastructure sector's adoption of new building technologies and assistive tools. In a presentation from Construction Industry Council (CIC) representatives, members were briefed on the use of new qualifications and training schemes to build and nurture talent in the city, such as the use of drones and other related robotics to assist in site surveying and construction.
Led by Chairman John Siu and Vice Chairman Bruce Chong, members toured the CFC’s various innovative hubs, including its Digital Twin Hub, Immersive Cave and 4S Hub to witness how smart technologies are transforming construction site management and building design and safety. The visit also provided a platform to discuss the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and talent training in supporting Hong Kong’s upcoming mega-projects, including the Northern Metropolis and San Tin Technopole. Following the briefing and tour of the facilities, members were shown live demonstrations of construction humanoid and autonomous robotics in action.
We extend our gratitude to CFC for organizing this visit and to our Committee Chairman and Vice-chairman for leading our members.
