香港國安法為特區堵塞嚴重法律漏洞。全國政協委員、資深大律師馮華健在「香港基本法頒布30周年法律研討會」中發表講話，指香港回歸23年都沒有履行為基本法第二十三條進行本地立法的責任，中央出手制定香港國安法，是完善了基本法及填補了缺陷。

Hong Kong’s national security law, enacted swiftly by Beijing officials and entered into force in Hong Kong on June 30, contains many groundbreaking provisions overriding local laws which sent “shock and awe” throughout the community.

A member of the Basic Law Committee, legal scholar Albert Chen Hung-yee, said in remarks broadcast on Saturday that the new national security law is like a new "social contract" with Beijing that will allow the ‘One Country Two Systems’ principle to continue to be implemented here. RTHK reports.

香港《國安法》從立法的消息傳出到實施後，都引起多方憂慮，一些意見批評立法過程秘密、沒有充份諮詢香港意見，也認為這部法律可能影響香港的司法獨立。但支持立法一方認為，香港經過《逃犯條例》修訂引起的暴力示威浪潮已經一年多，《國安法》立法有助香港回復穩定。BBC中文專訪中國全國人大常委會唯一一位香港代表團成員譚耀宗，解釋這部法律的內容，也回應外界的憂慮。

《港區國安法》出台，有人指法例含糊，立法會前主席曾鈺成認為四宗罪中，大部分是有針對性，特別是去年反修例事件中的各種暴力行為。他在「灼見名家」平台的「主席開咪」分析時指，若《國安法》提早一年出台，去年對立法會大樓的惡劣破壞行為未必會發生，因為破壞者要估算判眾終身的代價。他又認為警隊現時執法迅速，加上刑責，想挑戰《國安法》的人士應三思。

The national security law for Hong Kong will protect the rights and freedoms long enjoyed by the vast majority of law-abiding citizens, Legislative Council president Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen said today.

星展集團董事總經理兼集團財資及市場部總監伍維洪稱，即使近月壞消息不斷，但港股未見沉重沽壓，反而資金近月持續流入亞洲及趁低吸納港股。他又不認為，國安法會動搖香港金融中心地位，長遠仍然是中資企業重要的集資中心。

全國政協委員、律師黃英豪接受本報專訪時表示，「香港國安法」對香港有兩大重要意義，一是填補香港在國家安全的法律真空；二是體現「一國兩制」，使制度行穩致遠。

美國參議院上周通過《香港自治法案》，當中授權美國政府可對任何人或機構作制裁，紡織及製衣界立法會議員鍾國斌直言，商界對美國通過有關法案感到擔心，不知會否因支持港版國安法，被美國政府列為制裁目標。
