Well before Covid-19 made online shopping a permanent aspect of everyday life, patronage of the digital marketplace is already quite commonplace on the Mainland with the extensive reach made by ecommerce platforms such as Taobao and JD.com. How should businesses position their services and products to capture a slice of the market in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), one of the fastest growing regions in the country and the world? What are the key considerations that businesses should keep in mind when drawing up an effective online marketing strategy? What can companies do to promote customer confidence?

To address these questions and more, the Chamber will be hosting a talk on 24 January 2022, when Stephen Lam, Dominic Tong and Edward Choy from GS1 Hong Kong, the sole authority in Hong Kong to issue GS1 barcodes, will share their insights on the use of a multi-channel approach to improve product visibility online. They will also speak on the use of retail analytics to drive online sales and commerce, as well as ways to protect one's brand from online fraudsters. Join us then to learn how you could adjust your marketing techniques and utilize the various online selling channels to get ahead of the competition in the GBA.

Stephen Lam, Chief Operating Officer, GS1 Hong Kong

A specialist in AI, Data Pattern Analysis and Computer Vision, Stephen oversees the facilitation of the adoption of GS1’s global standards and technologies amongst its corporate members to enhance the efficiency, safety, authenticity and sustainability of their businesses.

Prior to joining GS1 Hong Kong, Stephen had served in senior product management and business development positions at IBM, Akamai, WebEx and Coremetrics, leading complex business adoptions in cloud computing, AI and data analytics. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the State University of New York.

Dominic Tong, Chief Membership Officer, GS1 Hong Kong

An advocate for organized member relationship management with over 20 years of experience in both the IT and professional services industries, Dominic is an expert in long-term strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, having increased the membership of GS1 Hong Kong by over 75% since 2009.

Prior to joining GS1 Hong Kong, Dominic had served as a Senior Manager at Nielsen, leading the change in data collection methodology across the market research industry. He holds a double Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Economics and Business Computing.

Edward Choy, Head of Business Development, GS1 Hong Kong

A seasoned business development and brand marketing executive with a proven track record in the management of complex marketing partnerships, Edward specialises in the promotion of the adoption of GS1’s global standards and solutions amongst its corporate members to enhance supply chain visibility, operational efficiency and digital transformation of their businesses.

Notes - Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of payment, on a first come first served basis.
- Booking transfer is allowed for corporate members with advanced notice, walk-ins are normally not accepted.
- The Chamber reserves the right to decline any booking or cancel the event. In such case, a full refund of the participation fee will be issued.
- No refund will be made for last minute cancellations or no-shows. If the booking is cancelled at least 3 days before the event, and in such cases the refund will be subjected to a 10% administration fee, or HK$100 deduction, whichever is higher.
