Hailing from the world's oldest civilization, Egypt, the land of the pharaohs, where Cleopatra reigned, Sarah Abdelrahman's incredible story started in the Mutapa Empire in Southern Africa. Her travels took her to the land of the San people where she was raised, and later to the city of Alexander the Great.

Her travels then led her to explore incredible ancient civilizations including the Roman Empire, the Phoenician and Dilmun, and now, she is living in this remarkable city on the Maritime Silk Road -- Hong Kong. How has this vibrant West to East experience influenced her personal growth and outlook on the world? Why did she choose to work remotely for 18 years, and along the way achieve milestones in two of the Big 4s, a peacekeeping training centre and telecommunications?

She is the spouse of the Consul-General of Egypt and a devoted mother of two teenagers. Despite having accomplished so much, her hunger for knowledge and growth, including her current studies to become a professional certified trainer on gender-based sustainability and climate change, remains ravenous as ever.

Sarah is an avid culture enthusiast who seems to effortlessly juggle multiple roles. The Chamber is honoured to have Sarah sharing her journey at the Chamber's new series, "CEO 123 Tell Me More." She will talk about how she sees the world from a global citizen's perspective, Hong Kong as her home, and her views on the world. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating exchange.

Hailing from the world's oldest civilization, the land of Cleopatra, my road started in the Mutapa Empire in Southern Africa where I was born, it took me to the land of the San people where I was raised, and led me to the city of Alexander the Great to do my university degree. All roads then led me to the Roman, Phoenician and Dilmun civilizations where I met with Popes and learned to speak Italian, learned to read Arabic and dined with royalty. And now I'm hiking the trails of Hong Kong, one of the most beautiful cities on the Maritime Silk Road of the Chinese civilization. My journey from East to West has been a kaleidoscope of experiences as colourful as the landscapes in these countries and a fusion of the flavours as rich and diverse as their people.

In a nutshell, I'm an Egyptian global citizen with a zest for the vibrant tapestry of cultures and civilizations.  I’m a devoted mother of two teenagers, a diplomat's wife, an avid culture enthusiast – all while working remotely for over 18 years now – long before Covid set that idea aflame. My career includes consultancy at two of the Big 4s, a peacekeeping training centre, becoming a certified health coach, and now, IR publications manager at Egypt’s largest telecom operator. But I haven’t stopped there – I’m also studying to become a professional certified trainer on sustainability and climate change from a gender perspective – I've embraced diversity in both my career and personal life – mastering the art of balancing work, family and personal growth. Through this all, I’ve made sure to enjoy the richness of every moment, to value the differences in the people meet, and find harmony in the beautiful chaos of the continuous change that has become my only constant.
