After a hiatus of two years, the Chamber was able to hold its Christmas Cocktail for members at Hong Kong Club on 9 December. Chamber Chairman Betty Yuen welcomed members and touched on some of the highlights of the Chamber's work over the past year.
With Hong Kong expected to get back into full swing in the new year, she said the Chamber would be working hard to tell the world that we are back in business and help get the economy back on track. Joined by members of the General Committee, she proposed a toast to members' health and success in 2023, and reminded them that besides being the season to be merry, it is also the season for members to renew their membership.
Besides Santa joining to give out presents, Greater Bay Airlines CEO Stanley Hui also attended the event and presented the winner of the lucky draw Almon Kwan with two round-trip economy class tickets to any destination served by the airline. Participants had the opportunity to explore the brand’s various after-sales facilities, featuring the “XENTRY Mercedes-Benz Diagnostic System” for maintenance work. They also took part in a series of unique engine-themed activities in the limited-time exhibition “Ignite the Core – Internal Combustion Engine Experience Centre”, and learned about the history, internal structure and operation of engines.
Mercedes-Benz professionals also gave an in-depth introduction to the automaker’s latest innovations and two signature electric vehicles. Later, participants went on test drives and rides in high-performance selected car models.
The 12 winners of the “HKGCC 160th Anniversary Photography Competition” were each presented with an award at a ceremony on 13 October. The contest, part of the Chamber’s 160th anniversary celebrations, received over 1,300 entries for the two categories, “Hong Kong Business Cityscape” and “Hong Kong Business Culture.”
HKGCC Deputy Chairman Agnes Chan kicked off the event, and thanked everyone who participated in the contest, as well as project partner PPAC International, media partner Headline Daily, and sponsors Chevalier Group, NWS, Sino Group, Swire, Wheelock Properties and Yue Hwa Chinese Products.
The award-winning photos were showcased at the event, and participants took the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss the inspiration behind each image and mingle with friends.
