Wang Xiaohan, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, led a delegation to the Chamber on 7 January. The delegation, which included representatives from sectors such as culture, technology and biomedicine, was received by HKGCC Deputy Chairman Dr Peter Lam, Felix Lee, Chairman of the China Committee, and committee leaders.
Wang, who also serves as Vice President of the Shanghai Overseas Friendship Association, expressed hope to support Chinese enterprises in expanding globally and extended an invitation for the Chamber to join the Shanghai Overseas Cooperation Alliance for Enterprises as a strategic partner. Dr Lam highlighted Hong Kong’s unique advantages in supporting enterprises in going global, including its legal and arbitration systems, a favourable investment environment and a rich talent pool. Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation.

Lu Lasha, Deputy Director of the Nansha District Development and Reform Bureau, visited the Chamber on 15 January to exchange ideas on enterprise development and outbound opportunities with Felix Lee, Chairman of the China Committee.
During the meeting, Huang Hao, Head of the Integrated Service Center for Chinese Enterprises “Going Global,” said outbound business services had been delivered to firms in over 35 cities, with SMEs making up most of its clients. So far, the Center has supported over 400 enterprises in expanding overseas and continues to track their development.
Lu highlighted Hong Kong’s unique role as an international financial hub and expressed support for leveraging the city’s strengths to provide more comprehensive assistance to enterprises looking to go global.

Changsha's rise as a central economic powerhouse was the topic of a high-level visit by Secretary General Wu Guiying of Changsha to the Chamber on 22 January. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Vice Chairman PC Yu, General Committee Member Edmond Yue and members of the China Committee.
Wu noted Changsha’s key location at the heart of China. She highlighted its strong population growth of 680,000 last year and its youthful demographic, with an average age of just 37. Changsha ranked among the top three cities for business environment out of 300 Mainland cities in a study by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce in 2025.
More than 650 Hong Kong enterprises have already invested in Changsha, showing the strong connection between the two cities. Wu hoped to further strengthen these ties to create new collaborative opportunities in trade, investment and cultural exchange.

Felix Lee, Chairman of the China Committee, attended the GBA iForum 2026 in Nansha on 9 January. Hosted by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, this year’s event focused on harnessing Hong Kong's international strengths to facilitate internal connectivity and external accessibility in the Bay Area.
