The Chamber stands at a key moment in its storied history. This year marks our 165th anniversary, a milestone that speaks to our commitment to serving Hong Kong’s business community since 1861. On
29 May, we will celebrate this achievement with a special ball as we honour our past while looking to the future.
This celebration also doubles as a springboard for transformation. The Chamber’s Admiralty headquarters is currently undergoing full-scale renovations to create a dynamic, modern space that reflects the evolving needs of our members. The revamped office is designed to foster collaboration, innovation and connectivity, because business depends on relationships and shared ideas.
The overarching goal remains clear: to provide Chamber members with top-notch events and opportunities for networking and global outreach. The success of the HKGCC International Business Summit in December has set the stage for 2026: a full calendar of activities designed to spark partnerships, share knowledge and open doors to new markets.
As geopolitical shifts continue to reshape trade and investment, the Chamber is striving to help members expand their footprint beyond Hong Kong. Regular business missions to the Chinese Mainland and overseas offer firsthand access to emerging markets and strategic partners. The Chamber is further expanding its engagement with the Global South, driving deeper connections with Southeast Asia, a manufacturing powerhouse driven by young populations, as well as with Middle Eastern economies that are diversifying away from oil dependence. Building on these connections is our gateway to growth, enabling businesses to explore regions with significant trade and investment potential.
At the same time, we remain steadfast in our foremost role: policy advocacy. The Chamber will continue to engage with the Government and stakeholders to ensure that the voice of the business community is heard.
Celebrating 165 years of excellence is a tribute to both tradition and progress. We plan to accurately document and narrate our rich history with the establishment of the HKGCC Archives Project. This will be driven by the Chamber secretariat, but more importantly by members. We hope that long-serving members will be able to share their stories, photos and Chamber memorabilia to make this truly a repository of members’ recorded memories. Our goal is to tell the Chamber’s story from its establishment in 1861 to the present day, and – more importantly – the remarkable development of Hong Kong and the business community’s role. So if you have any items you wish to share or donate, please contact us.
The challenges of today demand bold thinking and proactive action built on the solid foundations of our legacy. By leveraging our deep experience, embracing innovation and expanding our global connections, the Chamber will continue to shape the future of business in Hong Kong and beyond.
