The 2025 Legislative Council General Election, taking place this month, represents a defining milestone in Hong Kong’s continued progress. More than a civic duty, it stands as a reaffirmation of our city’s dedication to sound governance and sustained economic vitality. Beyond electing representatives, this election will play a crucial role in shaping the policy direction that guides our future.
The Government has rightly highlighted this election as a milestone in our journey from stability to prosperity, offering an opportunity to inject fresh perspectives and renewed energy into the legislative process – an essential step in maintaining Hong Kong’s competitiveness as a global financial, trading and transportation hub.
This spirit of renewal and reform aligns with the broader economic narrative outlined in Chief Executive John Lee’s 2025 Policy Address, which emphasized the importance of revitalizing the economy and improving people’s livelihoods. These goals are closely linked to public confidence, both in leadership and the institutions that support Hong Kong’s business ecosystem. When governance and economic priorities move in tandem, the city is better positioned to navigate global challenges and seize opportunities.
At the Chamber, we see these developments as part of a wider cycle of transformation. The only constant in life is change, and we’re welcoming it with full-scale renovations of our Admiralty headquarters.
The refurbishment shows our commitment to being a modern organization that evolves with the needs of our members and the broader business community.
It is also a strategic investment in the Chamber’s future. As we approach our 165th anniversary in 2026, our goal is to create a more contemporary, multifunctional and welcoming environment that enhances member engagement and supports the Chamber’s work in policy advocacy and business development.
The redesigned headquarters will feature a refreshed layout and upgraded facilities, including a new members’ lounge. This space is envisioned as a hub for connection and collaboration in a relaxed yet professional setting where ideas can be exchanged and relationships built and strengthened. Overall, the enhancements are designed to deliver long-term value and an enhanced experience for all who engage with the Chamber. Meanwhile, it is business as usual as we strive to ensure all services and events continue uninterrupted until the new office space is unveiled next year.
As Hong Kong navigates global shifts and pursues domestic growth, adapting to change is essential to staying relevant and dynamic. By embracing a resilient, forward-looking approach, the Chamber remains committed to contributing to Hong Kong’s future and driving long-term economic prosperity.
