Strengthening Global Connections

The Chamber is committed to enhancing its crucial role in fostering international business ties, reinforcing Hong Kong as a global centre for trade and investment.

In an era of trade wars and economic polarization, we are striving to foster dialogue, facilitate cross-border collaborations and provide the Hong Kong business community with the necessary insights and networks to navigate an increasingly complex global landscape.

One of the key initiatives in this regard is our flagship event, the HKGCC International Business Summit. Scheduled to take place on 9 December this year, the event will bring together thought leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to discuss global economic challenges.

The summit encourages multilateral dialogue, offering a platform where diverse perspectives can converge to shape pragmatic solutions for businesses.

Further reinforcing our goal of expanding international connections, the Chamber has been very active meeting with incoming delegations from around the world, and engaging with Consuls General in Hong Kong. We are planning a series of overseas missions to deepen links with traditional economic partners while forging new ones in emerging markets.

Following the study mission to France and Germany in the spring, which explored opportunities in technology, innovation and advanced manufacturing, we plan to lead another delegation to Europe, focusing on deepening ties with key economies.

Missions to the Mainland and Indonesia are also on the agenda. The latter builds on the Chamber’s previous missions to ASEAN nations, including Cambodia and Vietnam, as well as high-level visits led by the HKSAR Government and attended by Chamber leadership.

These missions serve not only to promote Hong Kong as a super-connector and gateway to China and Asia but also to identify emerging sectors for collaboration.

Equally important is the emphasis on regional and national integration. Our regular missions to the GBA and key Mainland cities, such as Beijing and Shanghai, train the spotlight on sectors including fintech, innovation and technology, and professional services. Chamber delegations have explored collaboration in areas such as new energy, innovation and healthcare. These efforts create a balanced strategy that connects Hong Kong businesses to both global markets and China’s vast potential.

The Chamber is also expanding its range of knowledge-sharing platforms, including roundtables, networking events and business-matching sessions. Many of these events are held in partnership with local and international organizations and chambers, offering our members timely insights into market trends and regulatory changes.

In light of the current global landscape, where geopolitical uncertainties pose significant challenges, we are committed to empowering businesses to adapt, innovate and succeed in an ever-evolving world.
