It is an honour and a privilege to be re-elected as Chairman of the HKGCC, and I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our members for their steadfast support over the past year. As the cornerstone of Hong Kong’s business community, the Chamber will focus on four strategic priorities to drive sustainable growth while cementing our city’s status as Asia’s undisputed financial, trade and transportation hub.
At the heart of our mission is expanding Hong Kong’s global connections. The Chamber has long served as a bridge between local enterprises and international markets, and we are committed to strengthening that role.
We are working to strengthen our competitive advantages through extensive international networks, strong advocacy, and serving as a business platform that connects with the Greater Bay Area, Belt and Road countries and regions, ASEAN and the Middle East. To date, we have signed over 60 Memoranda of Understanding with chambers and business organizations worldwide, including recent MoUs with Qatar and Kuwait. This year, we plan to lead delegations to other international markets, ensuring Hong Kong’s business community remains at the forefront of global commerce.
Thought leadership is another pillar of our strategy. In an era of rapid geopolitical and economic shifts, businesses require dependable insights to navigate uncertainty. Through roundtables and policy consultations on a wide range of topics, we will continue to provide our members with the latest market updates and knowledge. Our goal is not merely to react to trends but to help shape them, reinforcing Hong Kong’s reputation as a hub for innovation and forward-thinking business practices.
Developing talent stands as our third strategic priority. Through the Chamber’s Training Academy, we will expand our focus on professional upskilling, industry networking and collaborative learning. Specialized programmes will equip businesses with AI and digital transformation capabilities, cultivating an innovative mindset while ensuring our workforce stays ahead in an increasingly tech-centric global economy.
Last but not least, a significant milestone on our horizon is the HKGCC’s 165th anniversary in 2026. We aim to celebrate this momentous occasion with a series of special events that honour the Chamber’s enduring legacy.
In these pivotal times, the Chamber plays a crucial role as an ambassador for Hong Kong, sharing positive narratives about our great city. Coupled with deeper engagement and international partnerships, we will strengthen our collective voice to shape Hong Kong’s future as Asia's premier city.
Backed by our diverse membership, we remain committed to fostering innovation, facilitating growth opportunities and advancing policies that sustain the competitiveness of the business community and Hong Kong.
