It was an honour to have Professor The Honourable Dong Sun, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, speak at the Chamber’s Town Hall Forum on 20 February.  

Addressing a full house, Sun explained the Government’s multi-faceted approach to fostering innovation and technology development within upstream, midstream and downstream industries in Hong Kong. 

This includes the establishment of three HK$10 billion funding schemes to support production lines and channel market capital into the I&T sectors. He also emphasized the significance of San Tin Technopole, which is set to function as Hong Kong’s manufacturing production base.

Hosted by Chamber CEO Patrick Yeung, the forum also offered a platform for members to share their hopes and concerns regarding the I&T industry. Sun addressed a wide range of questions covering topics from strategies to enhance the city’s high-tech manufacturing policy to attracting talent for the Northern Metropolis.

Regarding technology transfer between Hong Kong and various global locations, Professor Sun is scheduled to visit Europe soon to encourage European technology companies to establish and expand their operations in Hong Kong.
