Boosting investment and facilitating global development are the twin missions of the annual China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen, Fujian Province. Launched in 1997 and organized by the Ministry of Commerce, the symposium has become an essential platform for showcasing and introducing the latest investment environment and achievements of Chinese provinces, cities and regions.
China Committee Chairman Felix Lee and Yolane Japhet, Vice Chairman of the Asia, Africa and Middle East Committee, attended the opening ceremony of this year’s edition, which was held on 8 September. CIFIT 2024 drew visitors from over 100 countries and regions, of which about 80% were Belt and Road Initiative nations. Covering about 120,000 square metres, the exhibition space comprised three pavilions: Investment Promotion, Industry Innovation and Development, and Project Capital Matchmaking.
The three zones showcased the development and investment environment of various countries and regions alongside China’s advancements in fields such as AI, information technology, new energy and materials, ecological protection, biomedicine, and supply chain innovation.
Lee and Japhet also represented the Chamber at the International Investment Forum 2024 on 8 September, during which the China Two-Way Investment Report 2024 was released. Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative, and Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, attended the event. The Chamber delegates also met CCPIT Xiamen Chairman Ke Biru and Vice Chairman Zhu Hongqi to explore potential business opportunities and collaboration.
