Chamber Chairman Betty Yuen led a high-level delegation to Beijing on 9-10 November. During the two-day trip, the 30-member delegation called on leaders of various government ministries and departments, including Xia Baolong, Director, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council. Members also visited the Exhibition Center of the Zhongguancun National Innovation Demonstration Zone, and met with representatives from Hong Kong Professionals (Beijing) Association and the Hong Kong Association of China Business in Beijing.

Hong Kong and Humen signed six projects with a total investment amount of over HK$7 billion at the Humen Investment Promotion Session on 31 October. Sectors covered included covering medical, renovation of industrial land, commercial residences, electronic information projects, etc. China Committee Vice Chairman Felix Lee joined the event, which was organized by Humen People’s Government.

China Committee Vice Chairman Edmond Yew represented the Chamber at the Liaoning-Hong Kong Investment and Cooperation Briefing Session on 27 October. Jin Guowei, Vice Governor of Liaoning Province, said Hong Kong is the largest source of foreign investment in Liaoning, with over 13,000 companies so far accounting for 27% of the total number of enterprises. The event was organized by the Department of Commerce, Liaoning Province.

A Belt and Road Cultural Exchange Banquet was held in Hong Kong on 13 November to showcase the rich heritage and tourism sector of Belt and Road countries as well as Hong Kong’s diverse diaspora. Edmond Yue, General Committee member and Belt & Road Working Group Co-convenor, and Wendy Lam, Director of Policy and Research, attended the event. The banquet was organized by the Hong Kong office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China, and the Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce. 

 

Members attended the First Anniversary of the Consultative Committee on Fujian-Hong Kong Cooperation (Fuzhou New Area) and 2023 Fuzhou New Area Investment Promotion Conference on 20 November.

 

Felix Lee, Vice Chairman of the China Committee, and members learned about the investment environment in Chongqing at the Chongqing-Hong Kong Investment Seminar on 21 November in Hong Kong.   

 

To celebrate its second anniversary, the Consultative Committee on Guangdong – Hong Kong Cooperation (Guangzhou Nansha) organized a seminar and exchange event on 21 November to highlight Nansha’s latest policies and help members understand the new changes. An on-site visit was also arranged for members after the seminar.  HKGCC is a member of the Consultative Committee.

 

Chamber Chairman Betty Yuen and 40 members attended the 26th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Symposium, which was held on 29-30 November. Launched in 1997, the annual symposium has become an important platform for promoting economic and trade cooperation between Hong Kong and Beijing. HKGCC was a co-organizer of the event.
