What's On

The Statutory Minimum Wage was introduced on 1 May 2011 with the aim of striking an appropriate balance between forestalling excessively low wages and minimising the loss of low-paid jobs while also sustaining Hong Kong's economic growth and competitiveness. With effect from 1 May this year, the hourly minimum wage rate has been adjusted to $37.5 from $34.5.

At this seminar, Ms Clare Cheng, Senior Manager of Accounting & Payroll Outsourcing Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong, will explain the requirements under the Statutory Minimum Wage arrangement, as well as its computation principles. Issues covered include:

1.    An Overview of the Statutory Minimum Wage in Hong Kong
2.   Coverage of the Minimum Wage Ordinance
3.   Basic Computation Principles and Illustrations
4.   Highlights on Application to Specific Industries
5.   Offences and Penalties
6.   Disputes over Statutory Minimum Wages

*The seminar will be conducted in Cantonese
