To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, the Hong Kong Government has mapped out the Waste Blueprint for Hong Kong 2035 with a comprehensive plastic management strategy to eliminate plastics at source. However, most types of plastics have extremely low recyclability with only two (drink bottles and personal care products) among the seven types of plastics are accepted in Hong Kong recycling bins.
Local start-up EcoBricks has broken the recycling bottleneck with its proprietary and process formula and is now able to up-cycle all the seven types of plastics, including mixed and composite plastic that are currently impossible to recycle, into sustainable construction materials, presenting a viable circular economy solution to urban plastic waste.
Join us for a visit to EcoBricks' factory on 29 November when the company's Founder and CEO Shervin Sharghy will explain the breakthrough technology of converting plastic wastes into concrete bricks without heating or melting them through a low-energy cold production process that eliminates harmful emissions or pollutants.
