Jeoven Wong, Director General of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention & Exhibition Affairs, and Yiyou Liu, Deputy Director of Shanxi Investment Promotion Bureau, visited HKGCC on 25 June to invite the Chamber to the 22st CIFIT & BRIC (China International Fair for Investment & Trade and Belt & Road Investment Congress), which will take place this year in Xiamen on 8 to 11 September. China Committee Vice Chairman Edmond Yew received the delegation. Wong also discussed developing connections among the business communities in Xiamen, Shanxi and Hong Kong. The Chamber has been supporting CIFIT for 21 years since 1997.
|2019/06/21||2019 Wenzhou (Hong Kong) Investment Environment Explanation Seminar|
The 2019 Wenzhou (Hong Kong) Investment Environment Explanation Seminar was organized by the Wenzhou government on 21 June, with the aim of deepening the city’s cooperation with Hong Kong’s services, finance and trade industries. Edmond Yew, Vice Chairman of the China Committee, represented the Chamber at the seminar. Wenzhou is known in the Mainland for its private economy, which is driven by industries including electrical appliances, shoes and car parts. The city is particularly well known for its production of pump valves and it is a leading producer in the Mainland. In terms of high-speed rail, Wenzhou aims to develop a “521 transport network” – meaning five hours to Beijing and Guangzhou, two hours to the Yangtze River Delta, and one hour to other cities within Zhejiang province.
|2019/06/11||Ma Qingmin, Vice Mayor of Weifang Visited|
Weifang is known around the world for its international kite-flying festival, but it is also an important processing and export base for agricultural products and food in Mainland China. Its vegetable and meat exports account for around one-eighth and one-ninth of the national totals, respectively. Ma Qingmin, Vice Mayor of Weifang, led a delegation to visit the Chamber on 11 June to explore cooperation opportunities with members. The delegation was received by Petrina Tam, Chairman of the China Committee. To further capitalize on its agricultural resources and upgrade the sector, Weifang launched the “National Comprehensive Pilot Zone for Agriculture Opening Up and Development” in August last year.
