Katherine Lei, Deputy Director General of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Cooperation Office at the Guangzhou Nansha Economic and Technological Development Zone, visited the Chamber on 15 January, and was received by Petrina Tam, Chairman of the China Committee. In 2019, Nansha had the fastest GDP growth of all the districts in Guangzhou, and it is also the only district in Guangzhou with a dedicated office to deal with Hong Kong and Macao cooperation. The delegation introduced the district’s latest developments in education, transportation, science and technology. Nansha plans to develop some more areas for Hong Kong companies to do businesses in the district, with over 20 square kilometres earmarked for this development.

The Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area of Dongguan visited the Chamber on 14 January. Xiao Biliang, Deputy Director-General of the Development and Reform Bureau of Dongguan Municipal Government, led the delegation and was welcomed by Edmond Yew, Vice Chairman of the China Committee, and Chamber members. The two sides discussed collaboration opportunities in Dongguan for Hong Kong companies in the manufacturing and services industries. Xiao also introduced members to some recent projects in the city, such as the Binhaiwan Bay Area, the Hong Kong Centre in Nancheng CBD, and Hong Kong City at Changping Station. He said these developments provide a great platform for Hong Kong companies to expand in Dongguan.
