The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) supports the decision announced
today (2 December) by Chief Executive John Lee to proceed with the Legislative Council General
Election on 7 December.
The decision will provide certainty and ensure that the new Legislative Council can assume office
as scheduled, enabling more effective progress on post-disaster reconstruction and funding work
following the tragic fire in Tai Po.
“Completing the election on schedule is important for maintaining social stability,” said Chamber
Chairman Agnes Chan. “We hope to elect a new term of legislators who are committed, visionary
and capable as we build a better Hong Kong together.”
HKGCC encourages its members and all eligible Hong Kong residents to exercise their right to
vote and actively support the Legislative Council General Election.
