Four Major Chambers Express Full Support for 2025 LegCo General Election Call on Businesses to Encourage Employees to Vote

For Immediate Release

The 2025 Legislative Council (LegCo) General Election, set for 7 December 2025, is a pivotal moment for Hong Kong. Beyond shaping the city’s development and enhancing the well-being of its citizens over the next four years, the election is vital to advancing high-quality democracy. Recognising its importance, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (collectively, the Four Major Chambers) express their full support for the election and call on the business community to encourage broad voter participation.

The Four Major Chambers note that Hong Kong is at an important stage in its transition for continued stability and prosperity, as it faces both significant challenges and historic opportunities arising from national development. At this juncture, all sectors share the responsibility to elect patriotic, capable LegCo members who can help drive steady and sustainable progress.

As key pillars of the business community, the Four Major Chambers are committed to promoting active participation in the election. One of the key initiatives includes providing a half-day of paid leave to employees who vote.

The Chambers also encourage member companies and the broader business sector to follow suit by adopting supportive measures, such as flexible working hours or compensatory leave, to make it easier for employees to vote. These efforts reflect the unity and shared civic values of the business community.

Looking ahead, the Four Major Chambers will continue to serve as a bridge between the government and the business sector, supporting the steady implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle and contributing to Hong Kong’s long-term stability and prosperity.
