The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) welcomes the Government's announcement today (November 26) of the Blueprint for Arts and Culture and Creative Industries Development. This initiative represents a significant commitment to fostering creative growth in Hong Kong, enhancing the city’s role as an international hub for cultural exchange and creating opportunities across various sectors.
The comprehensive plan outlines over 70 measures focused on enhancing the development of arts and culture with a global perspective. These include celebrating Hong Kong's unique cultural identity and heritage, facilitating arts and cultural exchanges between China and the international community, and strengthening infrastructure for related industries.
Chamber Chairman Agnes Chan said: “The Government’s roadmap for the cultural and creative industries will serve as a new engine for economic growth in Hong Kong. Beyond economic benefits and job creation, it will foster talent attraction and cultivation, positively impacting our overall economy.”
Furthermore, the blueprint aligns with the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan, emphasizing support for Hong Kong's development as a hub for international cultural exchange. By hosting significant arts and cultural events, Hong Kong can leverage its advantages and reinforce its status as Asia’s world city while enhancing the country’s global influence.
The active participation and support of the business community are crucial for advancing the cultural and creative industries. The Chamber is dedicated to fostering close communication with the Government and encouraging businesses to engage in these initiatives and seize new opportunities.
