The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce launched its 160th Anniversary Photography Competition themed “The World’s Greatest Business City” today to give residents the opportunity to showcase the city’s enduring appeal.

For Immediate Release

The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) launched its 160th Anniversary Photography Competition themed “The World’s Greatest Business City” today to give residents the opportunity to showcase the city’s enduring appeal.

Two categories, “Hong Kong Business Cityscape” and “Hong Kong Business Culture,” were chosen by the Chamber and its competition partner PPAC International to visually portray the rhythm of business life in the city.

“Hong Kong is a stunning city that is a gift to photographers,” said Chamber Chairman Peter Wong. “With our beautiful harbour and dramatic high-rises, the natural landscape and built environment combine to create a cityscape that is without equal. Meanwhile our bustling streets are home to a dynamic mix of timeless industries and high-tech innovators.”

Throughout its 160-year history, HKGCC has helped Hong Kong transform from a fishing village into a world-class business and financial hub, and a city that exceeds the world’s expectations. Its unwavering support for the business community over the decades has helped steer Hong Kong through hard times as well as years of growing prosperity.

“Hong Kong and the Chamber’s members have been at the heart of global trade for the past 160 years, and our East-meets-West environment has created a unique business culture. We are greatly looking forward to seeing how the city’s many talented photographers approach the two different themes,” added Wong.

Entrants can participate in one or both categories, and can submit up to five photographs in each, using photographs taken within the past three years. The top prize in each category is HK$10,000, and there are also silver, bronze and runner-up cash prizes and certificates, made possible thanks to the generous support of the event sponsors:  Chevalier Group, NWS, Sino Group, Swire, Wheelock Properties and Yue Hwa Chinese Products.

Hong Kong residents over the age of 18 can submit their entries from today to 30 June 2022. Full details can be found on the competition website: www.hkgcc160photo.com
