The Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce announced today (2 August) the appointment of Miss Shirley Yuen as its CEO with effect from 8 August 2011.
Announcing the appointment, the Chairman of HKGCC, Mr Anthony Wu, said “With her proven track record in the civil service and her wealth of experience in international trade, I am very confident that Miss Yuen will provide strong leadership to the Chamber Secretariat, and help us better serve the needs and promote the interests of our members as well as the entire business community.”
During her twenty years in the Government, Miss Yuen served mostly in the commerce and trade policy area, taking part in numerous international negotiations. She was also directly involved in the formulation of CEPA (Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement with the Mainland). Between 2003 and 2006, she worked as Administrative Assistant to the Financial Secretary. Before she left the civil service, Miss Yuen was a Deputy Secretary in the Transport and Housing Bureau, in charge of public transport policy. Miss Yuen is a psychology graduate from the Oxford University.
