Ovaltine-flavoured gelato anyone?
YEC members enjoyed an exclusive taste of a variety of flavours of gelato and sorbet during a visit to the pastry factory of Cafe Deco Group in Wong Chuk Hang on 29 November. Frank Law, Executive Pastry Chef, and Tim Lo, Pastry Chef of 2/3 Dolci, introduced the story of the brand, and demonstrated the production process of gelato and sorbet to members.
The name of 2/3 Dolci reflects how the products are especially designed for local tastes, and are less sweet than the original Italian recipes.
Participants also got a chance to sample more than over 15 flavours during their visit, including some that are not yet on the market, such as dark beer and Chinese herbal tea. Law explained that the company’s gelato and sorbet are all made without artificial flavours, which is how they maintain the brand’s high quality as well as its authenticity. Members had a great afternoon exchanging ideas with the pastry chefs during their gelato-tasting journey.
