On 9 June, our Chamber’s geographical committees had the privilege of leading a delegation of members on a highly productive visit to Qianhai, made possible by the generous support of the Qianhai Authority.
A standout feature of the itinerary was that the entire tour was conducted in English. This inclusive approach allowed representatives from our foreign enterprise members to engage directly with local leaders throughout the day without the need for interpretation devices, fostering more meaningful conversations and purposeful connections.
The programme commenced with a high-level dialogue led by Wen Ping, Deputy Director-General of the Qianhai Authority. Discussions focused on collaboration opportunities in this new era of cross-border development, driven by the joint efforts of Greater Bay Area cities and the strategic “Shenzhen-Hong Kong Tech Collaboration 2.0” initiative.
The delegation then visited several ventures at the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation and Entrepreneur Hub (eHub). Members explored vast opportunities available to investors and observed first-hand the rapid advancements taking place in key sectors, including artificial intelligence, life and health sciences, and cultural and sports technology. The facility clearly demonstrated its vital role as a premier destination for young professionals seeking to turn innovative ideas into successful ventures.
The afternoon concluded with insightful visits to WeBank and HSBC Qianhai. Participants gained valuable perspectives on WeBank’s innovative digital banking model, designed to serve MSMEs and individual customers efficiently through technology-driven solutions. They also learned about HSBC’s pioneering joint-venture securities company, which complements and strengthens the framework established under CEPA between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
As one of the Chinese Mainland’s most integrated zones for cross-border cooperation, Qianhai exemplifies the benefits of regional connectivity and coordinated development. It serves as a crucial bridge for Hong Kong and international businesses pursuing expansion into the mainland market while providing a foundation for innovation, investment and business growth.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Qianhai Authority for its warm hospitality, as well as to all participating members whose active engagement contributed to the success of this important visit.
