It is a tremendous honour for me to have been elected Chairman of the HKGCC, following the Chamber's Annual General Meeting on 3 June. I am also deeply grateful and indebted to the leadership of my predecessor, Ms Agnes Chan. Her efforts in strengthening the Chamber’s international partnerships and global networks have elevated our ability to connect our members with opportunities in Hong Kong and around the world to new levels. 

For 165 years, the Chamber has grown alongside Hong Kong and its business community, and I am privileged to lead this historic institution as we embark on our next chapter. This anniversary marks an opportunity not only to reflect on our proud heritage, but also to look ahead and shape the future. As the Voice of Business, the Chamber remains committed to promoting, representing and safeguarding the interests of our members and Hong Kong.   

As the city enters its next phase of development, I am highly confident in its economic prospects. Despite recent economic headwinds, our business community has demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability. Hong Kong continues to benefit from its unique advantages under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework, its status as an international financial, trade and shipping centre, and its role as a bridge between the Chinese Mainland and the global community.  

The deepening integration of the Greater Bay Area, the development of the Northern Metropolis, and opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative will create new avenues for growth. Emerging markets across Central Asia, the Middle East and ASEAN also offer significant potential for businesses in Hong Kong seeking to broaden their reach and strengthen their competitiveness.  

By continuing to elevate the city’s role as a “Super Connector” and “Super Value-Adder”, the Chamber will support national development strategies and help members seize opportunities arising from Hong Kong's evolving role as the “Ten Centre”, “Two Hubs”and  “One Ecosystem”.  We will also be a champion for innovation and technology, particularly in the adoption of artificial intelligence, to help businesses improve operations and customer value propositions. 

Hong Kong stands at the threshold of an exciting new chapter. New possibilities are emerging for businesses willing to innovate, collaborate and embrace change. I look forward to working with our members to build on the Chamber’s strong foundations and to ensure the continued prosperity of our city.
