Yu Jianchun, Vice Chairman of the Guangzhou Federation of Industry and Commerce, met with Felix Lee, Chairman of the China Committee, and Petrina Tam, Convenor of the GBA Connect Working Group on 26 January to discuss strengthening cooperation between the regions’ business communities.
Emphasizing the geographical, economic and cultural ties between Guangzhou and Hong Kong, Yu highlighted the need to fully leverage each city’s strengths to build an effective platform for communication, connectivity, and mutual benefit.
Yu also invited the Chamber to the Guangzhou Spring Reception on 16 March, at which he proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize future cooperation.

Xie Xiaobiao, Executive President of the Shenzhen Association of Trade in Services, met with Edmond Yew, Vice Chairman of the Chamber's China Committee, on 28 January to discuss Shenzhen's service trade sector, a pivotal engine for the city’s high-quality economic transformation.
Xie said the association had nurtured nearly 500 specialized and innovative enterprises since its launch. It has also established offices in several of China's leading manufacturing hubs, thereby expanding its service network and reach.
He also highlighted Shenzhen’s accelerated development of emerging industries, including AI, the low-altitude economy and smart healthcare, all of which are redefining the contours of modern service trade.
In addition, he announced the association’s plan to host the Cross-Strait Service Industry Exchange alongside the 14th Hong Kong–Macao Service Industry Development Forum in July. The event will convene industry leaders from Greater China to explore innovative service models and foster deeper regional collaboration.

General Committee Member Edmond Yue attended the inauguration ceremony of the Fifth Council of the Association for the Promotion of Global Chinese Traders Fraternity on 23 January. The event brought together over 400 leaders from government, business, academia, as well as the research and investment sectors to explore Hong Kong’s development under the 15th Five-Year Plan.

 


HKGCC Vice Chairman PC Yu represented the Chamber at “Hunan Day,” a symposium on 27 January that included a conference on leading industries investment and financing matching, organized by Hunan Province.  


Speaking at the event, which was part of the Asian Financial Forum, Wang Junshou, Vice Governor of Hunan Province, noted Hong Kong’s crucial role in Hunan’s development. He encouraged enterprises to align with international regulations and to enhance risk management by leveraging Hong Kong as a platform to expand globally.
