Ernst & Young: Unveiling the Path to Success

Students were given valuable insights into the world of professional services at EY office in Hong Kong on 26 April. Jack Chan, EY China Chairman, answered their queries about career development and shed light on the opportunities and challenges in the industry. Jasmine Lee, Managing Partner of EY Hong Kong & Macau, delivered an inspiring opening address, which set the tone for the day's activities. Rainbow Chan, EY Hong Kong & Macau Talent Lead, provided a comprehensive introduction of the organization, sharing its history and diverse services. 

 

MTR: Pioneering Transportation and Connectivity

Hosted by MTR Corporate Limited, students visited West Kowloon Station and Tsing Yi Station on 24 April for a brief introduction to the High-Speed Rail system (Hong Kong Section). They also learnt about the co-location arrangement, passenger flow management and the state-of-the-art facilities. On a separate visit on 3 May, students went to the MTR Operation Control Centre to find out how Hong Kong's labyrinthian transportation network operates. 

 

K11 Musea: Where Art and Architecture Converge

New World Development Limited welcomed students to the K11 Musea on two separate occasions, 23 April and 3 May. On the first visit, students immersed themselves in an art tour, discovering the various art pieces and architectural designs incorporated in the mall. The second trip took students to Nature Discovery Park, where the docent highlighted Hong Kong’s unique ecology and biodiversity. Students saw firsthand how the company integrates sustainability principles into their day-to-day operations, and learnt about the need for environmental conservation.

 

The Mills Fabrica: A Tapestry of History, Sustainability, and Innovation

Brought to life by The Mills Fabrica, The Mills provided students with a detailed look into heritage, sustainable fashion and agrifood innovations on 24 April and 9 May. During a tour of the Centre for Heritage, Art & Textile (CHAT), they delved into the history of The Mills – a textile factory that was transformed into a museum and global innovation hub. They also explored the onsite urban farm to learn more about The Mills' commitment to sustainability and the cultivation of fresh produce. Chaucer Ma, Manager of Partnership at The Mills Fabrica, gave a presentation on sustainable fashion and agrifood innovations, emphasizing the importance of upcycling and the circular economy in shaping our planet’s future.

 

Cathay Pacific: Exploring New Horizons

Students had the opportunity to tour Cathay Pacific City, the Cathay Pacific headquarters at Hong Kong International Airport, on 24 May. They got a behind-the-scenes look at the airline's operations, including the flight simulator, safety training facilities, cabin mock-up and crew lounge. It was an interesting glimpse into how an international carrier functions.
