Dealing with difficult people and holding tricky conversations are inevitable. It’s part of life and must be expected. Unfortunately, it’s often not an easy task. This session will help participants understand why although some people can be difficult, it’s really the situation that is the issue, not the person. There is a positive side to conflict which is not always appreciated and seldom seen. Handled appropriately, it is possible to avoid objections and disagreement turning into major conflict and instead converting them into opportunities for developing greater levels of collaboration and trust.
In this immersive workshop you will learn techniques that will empower you with confidence and you will be equipped with skills that will enable you to enter into this conversation space smoothly and efficiently.
By the end of this workshop, each participant will: - Appreciate the potential barriers to effective communication skills - Have identified the 3 types of difficult conversations - Know how to prepare for a difficult conversation - Understand what it takes to be self-confident, avoiding being seen as arrogant of submissive - Have discussed and practiced techniques for responding constructively to criticism and nasty comments
Target Audience: - Those who feel the need to have difficult conversations in their roles at work as well as potentially at home - Anyone who wants to improve their daily communication skills – especially when in a heated situation, in and out of the workplace - People who want to show greater empathy when dealing with a challenging conversation. How not to be reactive but rather proactive when faced with a challenging conversation or preparing for one
