What's On

This workshop is an examination of the importance of interpersonal and behavioural style on team communication. Research evidence supports the conclusion that the most effective people are those who know themselves, recognize the demands of the situation, and adapt strategies to meet those needs. All of us have developed behavioural and communication patterns – distinct ways of thinking, feeling and communicating with others. However, to be truly effective in communicating with others requires understanding others’ communication styles and flexibility in our own range of communication styles.

Workshop Content:
• Using an Interpersonal Style Descriptor (ISD) assessment tool, participants will discover their own style.
• Learn how to overcome barriers and communicate effectively with team members.
• Colour-blind: the need for clarity - A highly interactive team exercise used in the training of air traffic controllers where the need for clear communication under pressure is clearly critical.
• Individual exercise and group activity.

Learning Outcomes:
• Understand the importance of different communication styles.
• Know yourself, know others. Find out their own work communication style as well as others.
• Learn the communication style most conducive to success for each situation.
• Understand and practice how to communicate in a clear and concise manner, no matter how technical or complicated the issue.
• Key learning points of working with a team: the pitfalls of colloquial language, abbreviations, accents, team dynamics, use of resources, listening, asking, checking skills.
• Learn how to manage rejections and conflicts with others.

Who Should Attend:
• Senior executives, project leaders, department heads, supervisors.
• Anyone who wishes to impress upon their target audience, particularly clients, customers, senior management, important stakeholders etc.
