In the upcoming chapter of “Dialogue with the General Committee Series”, we are excited to invite Mr David Liao. With a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in the financial industry, David will share his leadership journey that has taken him to his current role as Co-CEO for Asia and Middle East for HSBC. After joining HSBC in 1997, David was responsible for the local currency fixed income business in Greater China and Singapore. He was appointed Treasurer and Head of Global Markets, China in 2005; then became Head of Global Banking and Markets, China in 2013; and served as President and Chief Executive, HSBC China from 2015 to 2020. Prior to his current role, he was Head of Global Banking Coverage for Asia-Pacific.

David serves on several government and regulatory bodies, including a member of The Exchange Fund Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Advisory Committee on the Northern Metropolis, Advisory Committee on Attracting Strategic Enterprises and the Task Force on Promoting and Branding Hong Kong. In 2022, he was conferred as an Honorary Certified Banker of The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers. In 2024, he was appointed Justice of Peace of Hong Kong.

He is a non-executive director and a member of the Personnel & Remuneration Committee of Bank of Communications, a member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the 14th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and a council member of the Federation of Hong Kong Beijing Organisations.

David holds an Honours degree from the University of London.

Notes - Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of payment, on a first come first served basis.
- Booking transfer is allowed for corporate members with advanced notice, walk-ins are normally not accepted.
- The Chamber reserves the right to decline any booking or cancel the event. In such case, a full refund of the participation fee will be issued.
- No refund will be made for last minute cancellations or no-shows. If the booking is cancelled at least 3 days before the event, and in such cases the refund will be subjected to a 10% administration fee, or HK$100 deduction, whichever is higher.
- A $50 handling fee per person will be charged for all offline bookings (e.g. fax, e-mail, post) for all Chamber events. Go online today by downloading our app or registering on the HKGCC website to save the environment and money.
- Priority is given to corporate members. The decision to accept or decline any booking shall be at sole discretion of the Chamber.
