What's On

Hong Kong’s healthcare system now stands at a crossroads. With rising costs, aging populations, and the tension between cutting-edge innovation and affordability – how can we collaborate to ensure healthcare remains sustainable for all?

Join us for a pivotal panel discussion featuring Hong Kong’s foremost leaders in healthcare, insurance, government, and pharma. We are pleased to welcome Joseph Chan, JP, Under Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Yuman Chan, General Manager of Bupa Hong Kong, Gabriel Lee, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Union Hospital, Da Liu, Managing Director of CR CP Life Science and Krish Sundaresan, General manager of Pfizer Hong Kong who together will tackle the critical questions shaping our city’s future.

Decode the Crisis:
•   HK$100.2 billion – The Government’s 2025 healthcare budget, yet public hospitals still face over 100 weeks of waiting time for non-urgent care.
•   90% – Public healthcare subsidies by 2030 (down from 97%), shifting costs to patients.
•   Approximate HK$170,000 – Annual health insurance premiums for seniors, highlighting affordability gaps.

Key Discussion Themes:
•   Can Hong Kong afford around HK$20,000/day private care while keeping public hospitals afloat?
•   How can value-based care and public-private partnerships ease the burden?
•   What policies will ensure aging populations don’t bankrupt our government and insurers?
•   Affordable innovation – is that possible? How can Hong Kong develop its biotech sector, driving forward drug research, innovations and yet control the expensive costs of new drugs for governments and insurers?
•   How can stakeholders collaborate to balance innovation, cost, and equity?

With medical inflation outpacing wages and chronic diseases driving more than 50% of deaths, this discussion is critical for all Hong Kong residents.

Don’t miss this chance to shape the dialogue!
