What's On

Recent waves of corporate fraud and financial accounting scandals have highlighted the vulnerabilities of listed companies to allegations of wrongdoing. These scandals often involve practices such as earnings management, asset misappropriation, and false accounting. Additionally, the exposure of potential or confirmed fraud cases through short-seller attacks, regulatory investigations, auditor resignations, and internal tip-offs has become increasingly common. In this environment, independent investigations play a crucial role in assisting listed companies to promptly investigate allegations of wrongdoing and implement corrective actions.

This seminar will focus on corporate fraud and financial accounting scandals related to Hong Kong-listed companies. The speakers will discuss the various roles that independent investigations can play in supporting these companies.

Outline:
1. Understanding the Role of Independent Investigations in Addressing Allegations of Wrongdoing
2. The Duties of Directors and Relevant Listing Rule Implications
3. Identifying Common Types of Wrongdoing Allegations Relevant to Hong Kong-Listed Companies
4. Providing Practical Guidance on Handling Allegations and Implementing Corrective Measures
5. Staying Informed About Recent Enforcement Trends and Regulatory Developments
6. Case Studies

To keep senior executives, legal and compliance officers informed about the latest fraudulent activities and trends in Hong Kong, as well as the role of independent investigators in internal investigations.
