In January 2022, the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (the Exchange) introduced new rules to end single-gender boards by 31 December 2024. By 2023, the percentage of single-gender boards had dropped to around 20.4% of all issuers.

Although the overall ratio of female directors on issuers' boards increased from 14.6% in 2020 to 17.5% in 2023, Hong Kong is still lagging behind some other advanced economies in terms of gender diversity on boards. With a high level of compliance and disclosure requirements, the Exchange's diversity repository enhances our position as a leading governance and ESG hub in Asia, as well as expands opportunities for female business executives to take up the positions of independent non-executive director (INED).

Hosted by HKGCC's Women Executives Club and supported by the Golden Bauhinia Women Entrepreneur Association, this symposium features speakers from Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited and legal experts in the field, who will give you a grasp of:

- The Exchange's ESG perspective on board diversity and regulatory compliance,
- Responsibilities and liabilities of becoming an INED, as well as practical tips, and
- Opportunities and platforms for signing up to INED positions.

All business executives regardless of gender are welcome to attend the event.

(Light refreshments will be provided)
